Content creator and former radio presenter Andrew Kibe recently sat down with host Wilbroda on the Netwalking podcast.
During the conversation, recorded at the Nairobi Jaffrey Sports Club, Kibe revealed a little-known ambition from his past: his desire to become a pastor.
The Spiritual Calling
Kibe explained that there was a time in his life when he was deeply committed to his faith. This commitment came shortly after he finished high school.
He recalled being taken to a place called "Word of Life" immediately after leaving school. He spent three months there. He noted that the experience was beyond [his] expectation.
“Immediately after high school, I was ready I think just 2 days after high school, I came to Word of Life. Just like that, they took me and I didn't know where I was going, and then I found myself in Kabete,” he recalled.

Kibe described himself during this period as having been "saved, sanctified, Holy Ghost filled, water-baptized, Jesus in my life". He stayed in this committed lifestyle for about a year afterwards.

"I wanted to become a pastor".
During this time, Kibe assisted a friend who had already declared himself a pastor. Kibe helped him start a church. However, Kibe confirmed that he himself never officially declared, "I am a pastor".
He noted that his father, a strong Catholic, used to question this transformation, asking what he was "saved from".
A Shift to Logic
The desire to lead a church eventually faded. Kibe explained that his mind changed when he applied "logic" to the situation.
He began to question the nature of the deity being worshipped, especially when confronted with widespread poverty.

"How can you tell me what church, which poor God is this you're worshiping? I hate poverty".
Kibe observed that wherever they went, poverty was pervasive. He also pointed out the unfortunate statistic that the largest number of churches could be found in the biggest slums. This logical assessment led him to abandon his pastoral aspirations.
Current Focus
Today, Kibe’s focus is far from the pulpit. He is currently promoting his new book, 28 Commandments: A Journey into Manhood.
He refers to this new endeavour as his primary platform. Kibe is undertaking a 70-day book tour across the country to promote the work. He considers this book his "media," his "radio station," and his "everything".
