The True Reason for the Gift

Beyond celebrating the milestone birthday, Ms Obura revealed a deeper, emotional reason for her generosity. She explained that the gift is a reward for Mueni’s exemplary behaviour.

“Apart from her birthday, she performed well, she’s been respectful and responsible...I choose to show her love and appreciation in small ways,” she added.

More importantly, Ms Obura cited an emotionally supportive moment from the past. She recalled a period she described as her "lowest" point.

During this time, Mueni, who was just eight years old, offered profound comfort. Ms Obura shared the exact words of her daughter:

"Mommy, this is nothing, God will bless you...she never once complained"

Mueni's actions then were a pivotal turning point for her mother. Yvette stated that this moment solidified her commitment. She referred to her daughter as an "intercessor".

“And I’ll give her everything because I remember in my lowest just at 8 years, she hugged me and told me ‘Mommy, this is nothing, God will bless you...she never once complained’. God blessed me with an intercessor in the form of a daughter,” she said.

Co-Parenting Background

Mueni's father is the popular Kenyan musician Bahati. Mueni is often in the public eye due to her parents’ status.

Yvette Obura and Bahati have navigated a notable co-parenting relationship over the years. Mueni spends considerable time with Bahati, his wife Diana Marua, and her step-siblings.

The family has maintained a public presence, often sharing details of their lives.
