The Role of Parental Example

This is not the first time the podcaster is proudly sharing details about his journey of quitting booze.

In an interview with TV 47 Kenya’s Betty Kyallo on May 2025, Mwakideu shared that the decision to quit drinking was rooted in a deeper commitment to family and responsibility.

He revealed that one of the core reasons he chose to stop drinking was directly related to his role as a father.

Mwakideu’s sobriety milestone comes amid conversations about the necessity of good role modelling for children.

It is believed that children do not typically follow what parents say; instead, they often follow what they see their parents doing. Parents, therefore, must be very intentional about their words and their actions.

Concerns have been raised about adults exposing children to detrimental habits. For example, taking sons and daughters to a bar is seen as very wrong.

If a daughter sees a parent drinking, she might grow up doing the same. A child might see a father drink 10 or 20 bottles and believe that is normal adult behaviour.
