Football megastar Cristiano Ronaldo has gone public with his wedding plans, setting his sights on a summer 2026 ceremony with fiancée Georgina Rodriguez.
The timing is deliberately planned to follow the next FIFA World Cup.
Ronaldo, who is 40 years old, revealed that he is hoping to combine the celebration with another major victory. The Al-Nassr and Portugal striker suggested the nuptials would take place after the international tournament.
The Road to the Altar: A Trophy Condition
The Portuguese legend gave insight into his timeline during a recent interview on 'Piers Morgan Unsensored'. He stated clearly that he is currently "in no hurry to tie the knot".
Ronaldo jokingly outlined the ideal scenario for the ceremony:
“We plan to do it after the World Cup—with the trophy!”.

Rodriguez, who has been with Ronaldo for nearly a decade, prefers privacy. The former Manchester United player noted that his partner "is not the person that likes big parties" and prefers private things.
He confirmed that he would respect her decisions regarding the scale of the event.
Background: The August Engagement
Ronaldo and Rodriguez went public with their engagement in August 2025. The couple have been together for the best part of a decade and have raised a family of five children.
Georgina confirmed the news on social media. She proudly showed off her huge diamond engagement ring.
The Spanish model and influencer posted a picture of the stunning piece of jewellery with a heartfelt caption.
"Yes I do. In this and in all my lives".
The engagement ring itself is an extraordinary item. It is an oval diamond estimated to be around 35 carats. Engagement ring specialists estimate its value.
Laura Taylor, an expert, suggested the diamond is valued at over £1.5 million. Another specialist, Tobias Kormind, estimated the value to be around $5 million.
An Unplanned, 1 am Proposal
Ronaldo described the engagement as an intimate, unplanned moment. He openly admitted that he is "not a romantic guy".
The spontaneous proposal occurred late at night. It was about 1 am, and his daughters were already in bed sleeping. A friend gave Ronaldo the ring to offer Georgina.

The presence of his children was the catalyst for the proposal. As he was giving Georgina the ring, his two children walked in. They asked if he was going to marry their mother.
Ronaldo knew immediately that the timing was right.
"I said, ‘Wow, this is the right moment to say yes’".
He confirmed that he did not get down on one knee because he "wasn't prepared". Despite the lack of preparation, he did make a speech. The moment confirmed that Rodriguez is the "woman of my life".
His audacious wedding plans comes just few months after a officially engaging mother of his children. Their engaement party happened on August 2025.
