Kenya’s favourite radio duo, Gidi Gidi and Ghost Mulee, celebrated a major career milestone this week. Their iconic morning segment, Patanisho, on Radio Jambo’s Gidi Na Ghost Asubuhi show, marked 17 incredible years on air.
The Swahili segment is renowned for bringing people together.
What is Patanisho?
Patanisho, which translates to ‘Reconciliation’, is a unique and widely popular segment on the morning show.

It serves as a platform for individuals to seek mediation, advice, and solutions for their conflicts, particularly those in relationships or families. Listeners call in to air their grievances and ask the hosts to help reconcile with a spouse, partner, or family member.
The segment fosters community connection and problem-solving through a mix of humour and lively banter. It is considered the ultimate morning companion for many Kenyans.
A Laughter-Filled Legacy
Host Gidi Gidi reflected on the journey he shares with co-host Ghost Mulee. He described their 17 years together as a journey of "laughter, good vibes, unforgettable moments, and impactful conversations".
Gidi stated that their mission from day one has been simple: "to inform, entertain, and connect with our amazing listeners across the nation".
He thanked their loyal listeners, saying none of it would have been possible without them.

On his part, co-host Mulee reflected on the moments they’ve shared on air for those incredible years.
“It’s been 17 years of fun, for me, I take it as fun. It’s a job, but the minute I’m not enjoying it, I will walk out, so I enjoy every morning coming here,” Mulee said.
Radio Jambo also posted in Swahili, commemorating the milestone. The station celebrated 17 years filled with emotion, forgiveness, and true stories of love, politics, and reconciliation.

They extended gratitude to the listeners who have sustained the journey with love and hope.
Cake Cutting Ceremony
To mark the anniversary, the duo held a small celebration. The cake-cutting ceremony took place in an office setting. Gidi and Ghost were joined by Radio Africa Group CEO Martin Khafafa.
The event featured two separate cakes. One cake, a white base with chocolate shavings, featured blue writing. It wished the team a “Happy 17th Anniversary Gidi na Ghost”.
The other cake was a white cake adorned with passion fruit slices and mint leaves.It was simply inscribed with “Gidi and Ghost @17”. The trio was pictured holding the knives together to cut the white cake. The celebration captured a joyful moment for the team.
The segment’s continued popularity, even after nearly two decades, highlights its cultural significance. Patanisho remains a dominant force in Kenyan morning radio.
