Comedian YY recently spoke candidly about maintaining boundaries after separating from his previous partner.
Speaking with podcaster Alex Mwakideu, YY revealed that after separation, he ensures the boundaries are guarded strictly, but with utmost respect.
Maintaining Healthy Boundaries
YY explained that he and his ex-partner, who is the mother of his child, strictly adhere to firm boundaries concerning child drop-offs and pick-ups.
The comedian insisted that once a relationship ends, both parties must be treated "in the capacity of an ex". This involves removing certain privileges that were previously enjoyed.

When asked directly about whether he or his ex should be allowed into each other’s houses for child exchanges, YY was definitive.
"I don’t know, but it’s not right, even for me... It’s not right at all."
He stressed that an ex becomes similar to somebody else, but with more respect due to the child involved.

He believes this adherence to standard is crucial for successful co-parenting.
“When someone is your ex, you deal with them in the capacity of an ex, meaning you deprive them of privileges they previously had and they deprive you of privileges that you had before,” he stated.
The Child Comes First
YY maintained that his co-parenting philosophy centres entirely on the child. He stated that separating partners must really bow down to the child.
He avoids arguments with the child's mother because he understands that disagreements only create "very bad energy around yourselves".

He chooses to remain silent if he disagrees with a point she raises. He also prioritises speaking positively about the mother to the child.
"Anything that I do does not punish that woman. It indeed punishes the child."
Despite the separation, YY continues to perform his duties as a father, including paying school fees and covering medical expenses.
He takes on parental duties every weekend, picking up the child from school on Friday and dropping her back on Monday, unless the mother has separate plans.
Plans for More Children
The comedian confirmed he is looking to expand his family. When asked if he planned to have another child, YY replied "yes".
He clarified that he is aiming for "One or two more" children within a serious setup. However, he admitted that he does not yet know the exact number, saying they will move the way the world unfolds.
YY Comedian holds great respect for his ex-partner because she gave birth to his child. Due to this respect, he avoids discussing the intimate details of their relationship in any interview.
He focuses instead on maintaining his parental responsibilities and ensuring that the child is the "only kid that should win eventually" in the co-parenting arrangement.

YY and his babymama, content creator Marya Okoth, ended their long-term relationship in September 2024.
In an October 2024 interview, YY explained that he was motivated to quickly move on to a new relationship due to his desire to start a family. He mentioned that the challenges of getting over a long-term relationship also played a part.
