Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has strongly condemned men for the betrayal of trust, leading to the online leak of women’s private videos.
His urgent appeal was made in a video posted on social media platforms, including Instagram, on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
The call-out followed the widespread viral sharing of an explicit video involving a woman identified as a “mama mboga” (vegetable seller).
Mr Mosiria directly addressed men, urging them to respect women. He demanded that they immediately cease exposing women online following private relationship fallouts.
The Context of the Leak
The Chief Officer confirmed he had viewed the explicit video of the mature woman on the internet. He noted that the woman is likely a mother and may have a husband.

“I’ve seen so many people blaming and criticizing that lady, and I truly feel for her. Please, let’s not do this to our women. Why share such videos exposing her when she trusted you and shared them in secrecy?”
Mr Mosiria said he was certain the person who exposed the footage was a man. This man was likely someone who had once been in love with the victim.

Mr Mosiria stressed that if a relationship ends, men must not upload their former partner’s private videos onto the internet. He stated clearly that the person who chose to leak the content is the only one to be blamed.
“Naomba ule mama apige ripoti ule mwanaume aweze kuchukuliwa hatua. Why expose such a woman? She is mature, elderly; she doesn’t deserve that.”
Trust and the Danger of Betrayal
Mr Mosiria expressed deep disturbance over men leaking private content after a relationship. He highlighted that the woman likely sent the video because she trusted the recipient.
She believed the person was her partner and would not expose the content.
The official warned that leaking these personal videos should not be viewed as a joke. Such an action risks destroying the victim's life.
The victim may feel humiliation and be pushed to take her own life upon seeing the video online. She might feel unable to face her children.
Mr Mosiria insisted that what is shared in privacy must remain private. What is done in secret should stay secret. He confirmed that the victim, being mature and elderly, did not deserve this betrayal.

Widespread Blackmail and Suffering
The Nairobi official noted the prevalence of this issue, stating that many women are suffering in silence. He added that even some men are victims of this exploitation.
People are being blackmailed for money by those who possess private videos or photos. Victims are threatened that the content will be posted online if they do not pay. Mr Mosiria stressed that this activity must stop.
Demand for Legal Intervention
Mr Mosiria used forceful language regarding the digital spread of explicit content. He described the act of posting such material as “digital environmental pollution”.
He insisted that these videos must not be present in the digital space.

The Chief Officer strongly urged the woman involved to report the incident to the police. He called for the immediate arrest of the person responsible.
Mr Mosiria appealed directly to police officers handling cybercrime cases. He asked them to apply the existing cybercrime law against those who expose explicit videos.
He believes this action will serve as a necessary deterrent for others. He added that those who went ahead and posted the viral video on media platforms should seek out the victim and apologise.
Finally, Mr Mosiria also criticised members of the public. He observed that many people were criticising and blaming the woman instead of offering her support.
