Gospel singer Kambua Mathu has published a deeply personal message to mothers who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby.
Her post on social media coincides with October, which is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
The Kenyan artist, who tragically lost her second-born son Malachi years back, offered solidarity and comfort to bereaved parents. She admitted that sharing her journey still requires significant courage.

The Pain of Loss
In her message, Kambua wrote that the post had been sitting in her drafts for weeks. She wants her story to honor the life of her late son.
"Sometimes I don’t feel as brave as I would like to be," she confessed to her followers. "But I will keep finding the courage to share my journey to honor the life of my precious boy, Malachi."

She specifically addressed mothers who have heard the harrowing news that their baby's heart has stopped. She also remembered those who left the hospital "empty-handed."
Acknowledging the Hardest Moments
The singer reached out to parents facing the incredibly difficult decisions after loss. These include whether to keep their baby’s clothes or give them away. She also acknowledged the heavy burden of funerals for an infant.
“I want to remember every mom who’s had to hear the words, 'I’m sorry, there’s no heartbeat. Any mom who has been told that her pregnancy is not viable. Every mom who walked into a delivery room pregnant and walked out empty-handed.”

“The moms who go back home to empty nurseries, wondering whether to give their baby’s clothes away, or to hold on to them. Every parent who has known the weight of lifting the smallest caskets,” she wrote in a poignant moment.
Kambua’s heartfelt words offered a simple but profound apology to those struggling. She validated the intensity of their emotions.
"I’m sorry that you have had to know this pain. I’m sorry that it hurts so much sometimes. I’m sorry that you sometimes feel stuck in grief. I see you," she assured them.
Malachi's Story: A Background
Kambua and her husband, Jackson Mathu, announced the passing of their son, Malachi Manundu Muthiga Mathu, in February 2021. Malachi passed away only days after his birth, following birth-related complications.
At the time, Kambua shared that her "little baby boy" fought to stay with them. She confirmed that a dedicated team of doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to save him.

The loss came just over a year after the couple welcomed their first child, Nathaniel, after nearly a decade of waiting. Kambua has since openly shared her grief journey, becoming a voice for parents navigating similar sorrow.

The star concluded her message with a loving note to her son. "Malachi, my sweet boy, I know I will see you again in glory. This is the hope I have. For now, I will be ok, because I know you are safe in the arms of Jesus.”
