Kenyan music star Arrow Bwoy has opened up about the dedication required to be a father, sharing his routine for bonding with his children, Kai and Kiyan.
Speaking candidly with podcaster Chris the Bass on the Tubonge podcast, the artist highlighted the critical importance of being a supportive and active co-parent.
The musician’s commitment to fatherhood began early. Before the birth of his first son, Kai, Arrow Bwoy made sure to attend every clinic appointment unless he was travelling internationally.
This level of support, according to him, was the "most important thing" a man can offer his loved ones.

The Early Days of Kai
Arrow Bwoy and his partner, Nadia Mukami, welcomed their firstborn son, Kai, after a period of considerable anxiety, having previously experienced a miscarriage.
When Kai was just one month old, the family maintained a demanding routine. At this stage, newborns require feeding around the clock, meaning the couple had to wake up frequently.
"There is that routine of 2 AM, wake up to breastfeed".
Arrow Bwoy’s role during these early hours involved supporting the routine. He had to wake up to change nappies, which is necessary before feeding.

Building the Bond
Arrow Bwoy described bonding with his sons as a responsibility men must actively pursue, especially since mothers naturally bond through breastfeeding.
He shared that specific routines help him foster a strong connection with his boys.
“I love bonding with my sons a lot through bathing them. I think for men, real bonding comes while bathing them, unlike mothers who often bond with them during breastfeeding,” Arrow Bwoy noted.

This hands-on involvement extended beyond bathing to all essential care tasks.
"Part of bonding with him is also changing their nappies. I’m an expert, and sometimes I even boast that I can take care of the baby,” he added.

A Supportive Partnership
The musician emphasised the need to support his wife, Nadia Mukami, acknowledging that early motherhood is tedious and exhausting for women, particularly due to the constant breastfeeding and waking up every two hours.
“The mother’s support is also very important, but they also get tired. That sitting down to breastfeed, waking up after every 2 hours when the baby is in the early stages, is a very tedious thing.”
He recounted a light-hearted incident that occurred while preparing one of the babies (Kiyan). Arrow Bwoy was changing the baby upstairs while his elder brother, Kai, was busy downstairs.
He had changed the child successfully but admitted to a small parenting error: he dressed the baby in two vests because he could not locate a suitable t-shirt. When Kai came to inspect his work, he immediately noticed.
