Former Senior Advisor to President William Ruto, Moses Kuria, has extended an offer to collaborate with Rigathi Gachagua.
Mr Kuria previously served the Ruto administration as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management. He also held the position of Senior Advisor to Ruto's Council of Economic Advisors.
In a surprising turn, Mr Kuria sought to end his political rivalry with Mr Gachagua. Mr Gachagua is the former Deputy President and currently leads the Democracy for the Citizens' Party (DCP).
However, this proposed political truce carries one crucial, non-negotiable condition.
Acknowledging the Kingpin
In a public statement issued on Saturday evening, 11 October 2025, Mr Kuria acknowledged Gachagua’s growing power. He recognised the former Deputy President as the undisputed kingpin of the Mt Kenya region.
Mr Kuria noted that Gachagua is "edging closer to be our undisputed Kingpin in the Mountain". He further admitted that it is an undeniable fact that the majority of the Mt Kenya people listen to Gachagua.
Kuria, an ally of President Ruto, suggested that he might soon consider joining forces with the DCP leader.
He drew a clear parallel to a recent political development. Kuria referenced the truce established between KANU party leader Gideon Moi and President Ruto.
"Just like Gideon Moi and William Ruto are working together, I might consider working with you very soon.".
The Non-Negotiable Condition
The single condition Mr Kuria attached to his offer centres on respectful leadership. Mr Gachagua must immediately cease disrespecting leaders and women.
Kuria specifically requested that Gachagua "Kindly refrain from insulting our leaders in general, our women leaders in particular and all Mt Kenya women by extension".

He stressed that Gachagua’s "constant scathing attacks" on the region’s female leaders were not appropriate. Kuria noted that such actions do not sound commensurate with the status of an undisputed kingpin.
Mr Kuria affirmed his honesty in his public address to the DCP leader. He delivered his request with "profound respect".
Political Backdrop to the Truce Offer
Mr Kuria's sentiments emerged against the backdrop of a heated supremacy contest in the Mt Kenya region. Senior political figures are currently vying for the votes of this populous region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kuria’s statement followed the emergence of a viral video. The footage showed Mr Gachagua criticising Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
Gachagua accused Governor Waiguru of acting on behalf of the Head of State to cause division within Mt Kenya.
Despite the ongoing political battles for regional dominance, Gachagua has been actively shaping the political landscape. This effort has been particularly notable since his impeachment last year.
Mr Kuria ended his statement by reiterating his sincerity. He told Gachagua: "I am an honest man. By now you know that".
For Kuria, respect for regional figures must be established before any formal political union can occur.
