Content creator and comedian 2mbili recently shared a painful memory of the late musician Shalkido. The video, posted to his YouTube channel, was hauntingly captioned: ‘My regrettable last highlights with Shalkido - Iregret telling him this!’.

The post documents a visit 2mbili made to Shalkido's rental house just days before the artist’s untimely death. During the visit, 2mbili offered personal advice, financial promises, and encouragement.

The comedian expressed deep regret over the conversation's timing.

A Friendship Spanning a Decade

2mbili and Shalkido shared a long history in the entertainment industry. 2mbili recalled knowing Shalkido for over 10 years, dating back to when he was in Form One.

2mbili remembered advising the aspiring musician to go back to school first before taking the stage. Later, Shalkido found fame as a member of the popular gengetone music group, Sailors.

The conversation revealed Shalkido was working long hours to make ends meet. He reported starting his job at 7 am and working until around 8 pm. 2mbili stressed the importance of safety during this time.

"Make sure you stay safe. Chapa helmet, chapa hizo body gears, tafuta trousers ya leather, si unajua safety is not guaranteed," 2Mbili advised him in part.

Regrettable Comments

The conversation also referenced Shalkido’s survival of a previous suicide attempt (kujinyonga). He thanked Shalkido’s close friend, Benja, for preventing him from making the difficult decision of ending his life.

“Thanks so much, Benja, we appreciate what you did. What you did is better than what would have happened later. Because sisi Wakenya na kuchanga kwa mikosi, this boy (Shalkido) we could have fundraised a lot for him hiyo time ameenda amejinyonga,” 2Mbili said.

2Mbili noted that because Shalkido survived, fewer people had come forward to help. He stated that had Shalkido died, Kenyans would have quickly fundraised for the funeral.

“Si unaona sasa hivi hatuchangi sana, but kama angekuwa ameenda, sijui MP wa wapi angejitokeza atoe coffin. But now that he survived taking his own life, sio watu wengi wamejitokeza kusaidia,” 2Mbili added.

These statements are probably the ones that 2Mbili now regrets discussing with Shalkido, not knowing he would die in an accident days later.

Counsel on Hustle and Content Creation

2mbili offered specific advice on how Shalkido could leverage his presence online. He suggested using platforms like TikTok Live.

2mbili mentioned that Shalkido could use his light and play his guitar to attract engagement. Fans might send digital gifts, such as lions or other virtual tokens.

He felt these brands would appreciate the opportunity to invest in him. 2mbili reminded Shalkido that his current situation did not matter.

"Bro, nobody cares kama uko top ama unaendesha ndudhi at the end of the day si umenotice".
