After a widespread public appeal, the individual suspected of handling the expensive device has now been located.

However, despite finding the person involved, Raburu confirmed on social media that his specific Samsung Galaxy Fold phone has not yet been recovered.

The saga began when the popular journalist and TV host misplaced his Samsung Galaxy Fold recently. This particular model is considered one of the most advanced smartphones available.

The loss represents a substantial financial setback, as the device retails at over KSh 200,000. Furthermore, Raburu relies heavily on the high-end phone for his professional work.

The lost phone contained crucial personal and professional information, making its recovery urgent.

Smart Tech Helps Trace Suspect

Following the incident, Raburu immediately turned to his extensive social media following for help.

He revealed that the phone’s smart security features had automatically snapped images of a man handling the gadget. These photos were saved to his cloud account, even though the device was lost.

The shared images led to a large public debate. While some netizens were skeptical about retrieving the device in Kenya, many fans expressed optimism that the photos would lead to useful tips.

A Successful Tracing Operation

The latest update confirms the success of the public and law enforcement efforts. Raburu announced that the identity of the suspected individual is now known.

The media personality credited the combined efforts of "Social media DCI and police" for tracing the suspect. The tracing led authorities to the individual's location in the Dagoretti area.

“Apparently, the person has been found... or we know where he lives, ako Dagoretti. Social media, DCI, and police traced him. He was pressed and handed over this phone! NOT OURS! But at least I used the emergency contact to trace the owner.”

Raburu confirmed that he now knows the person’s name, nickname, and workplace. He also confirmed that they spoke to the suspect's father, who offered assistance in the matter.

Search Continues for the Galaxy Fold

Crucially, Raburu clarified that the sought-after Samsung Galaxy Fold remains missing. Interestingly, the suspect did hand over a different mobile phone. This device was not Raburu’s.

Upon receiving this unrelated phone call, Raburu used the emergency contact feature to identify its true owner. He then ensured the device was safely delivered to the Kibera police.
