Electricity Access: Number of customers connected to the grid

A total of 395,490 new customers were connected between July 2024 and June 2025, bringing the cumulative grid-connected customers to 10,045,775.

This was a decline in new customer connections compared to the previous financial year, which recorded a total of 517,666 new connections.

Electricity consumers are grouped into the following broad categories: large commercial and industrial consumers, small commercial, domestic consumers, street lighting and electric mobility.

There was a general increase in electricity consumption across all customer categories, with each category recording all-time highs.
