The Atheists In Kenya (AIK) Society has publicly expressed its support for preacher and motivational speaker Robert Burale, following recent discussions about his past marriage.
The statement of support was released on 5th October 2025.
The AIK’s remarks came a day after Burale’s ex-wife, gospel singer Rozinah Mwakideu, spoke openly about their former relationship during a podcast interview that drew widespread attention online.

Society Weighs In
In an official statement, Harrison Mumia, the President of the Atheists in Kenya Society, addressed the ongoing public discourse surrounding the former couple.
The statement affirmed the organisation’s confidence in Burale’s integrity and urged the public to handle the matter with sensitivity and respect.
The Society further suggested that emotional healing and mutual understanding are essential for both parties to move forward.
“Emotional pain from past relationships can linger for years if not properly addressed. We encourage all individuals in such circumstances to seek closure and healing through positive means such as counselling and open dialogue,” the statement read in part.
AIK concluded by emphasising the importance of empathy, forgiveness, and focusing on personal growth rather than public criticism.
The Marital Fallout
Rozinah Mwakideu, who is the sister of podcast host Alex Mwakideu, detailed the marriage breakdown in an interview. She spoke candidly on the Alex Mwakideu TV podcast on 4th October 2025.

Mwakideu described her brief union with Burale as the "biggest mistake" of her life. She revealed the "red flags" and the circumstances that led to the collapse of their relationship.
She married Burale in August 2012, approximately one year after they first met. The marriage lasted only “one year and two days” before the separation. The divorce occurred around 2013.
Red Flags and Warnings
Rozinah recounted that she had ignored warnings before marrying the preacher. Her mother had expressed concerns, telling her that she “saw darkness in that marriage”.
Mwakideu noted that red flags began piling up almost immediately. She received anonymous messages on social media warning her about Burale.
When she confronted him about these messages, he dismissed them. Burale reportedly told her that the senders were simply "jealous" of him.
Mwakideu also claimed that Burale’s words were often sweet, but his actions did not match them.
"Looking back, I can say the biggest mistake of my life was marrying Robert Burale," Rozinah Mwakideu stated.

She also recounted how she moved in with Burale at his family home in Karen upon arriving in Nairobi. They stayed there for nearly a month, sharing a room while remaining celibate.
Burale’s Previous Comments
Rozinah Mwakideu's interview served as a rebuttal to the sentiments Burale shared on the same podcast a week earlier.
On 29th September 2025, Robert Burale appeared on the Alex Mwakideu TV podcast to discuss the divorce. Alex Mwakideu pressed his former brother-in-law for a definitive reason for the split.

Burale clarified that their marriage saw neither violence nor infidelity. He maintained that Rozinah is a respectable woman whom he holds in high regard.
Burale explained the divorce by saying that "sometimes two good people just didn’t work out”. He admitted that he personally failed in that area, taking responsibility for making mistakes as a husband.
He stressed that he did not "rise to where I should have been as a man". Burale reflected that this personal failure now provides him with a message that gives "other people victory".
