Manchester City star Erling Haaland has offered a rare glimpse into his personal life. The forward confirmed that his long-term girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, was the one who initiated their relationship.

Unexpected Relationship Start

The Manchester City and Norway forward shared surprising details about his love life. Haaland opened up about the beginning of his romance with Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

The couple has historically kept their private life out of the public eye. The revelation came during a high-profile interview.

Haaland was quizzed as part of the Norwegian broadcaster NRK's portrait series, 'A-team'. This series aims to ask leading figures a range of unfiltered questions. The interview covered various subjects, including his coach Pep Guardiola.

The First Approach

A clip released from the interview confirmed who made the initial move. Haaland confirmed that Isabel was the one who started the conversation. He revealed that she first sent him a message.

They both played for the same club in Norway, Bryne.

"She sent me a message," Haaland said. "She played in the same club as me, Bryne."

Haaland made it clear that he was not the one who pursued her first.

"She was the one who checked me out. I wasn't the one who checked her out."

Childhood Connections and Domestic Life

It has long been understood that Haaland and Johansen knew each other while playing at the Bryne youth academy. Haaland joined the Norwegian side at the age of five.

He spent more than 10 years playing for Bryne. Johansen is three years younger than Haaland.

The couple began dating officially when Haaland played for Borussia Dortmund. Isabel would make frequent trips to visit him in Germany.

Now, during Haaland's successful time at Manchester City, Johansen is often seen publicly. She has been on the pitch celebrating his major achievements.

The couple also welcomed their first child last December. Haaland shared that he raced against time to attend the birth. He explained that he left immediately after playing a match for Manchester City.

Kebabs and Computer Games

Haaland offered insight into what a romantic evening at home looks like. He revealed that he usually cooks. He added that Isabel enjoys playing games.

"So we play Minecraft together. We build houses and all that."

Other times, the couple goes back home to Bryne. They then order kebabs. Haaland has often stated that kebabs are his favourite food.

He even suggested that he could serve them at his and Isabel’s wedding.
