A Glimpse into Earnings and Investment

Okanga provided specific financial details about the poshomill operation. He revealed that the milling machine generates between 350 and 400 Kenyan Shillings (KES) daily.

Customers are charged ten shillings for each 'gorogoro' of maize milled.

The total investment in establishing the poshomill was substantial. Okanga stated that the milling machine itself cost 130,000 KES.

The structure built to house the poshomill, including the iron sheets and wooden components, amounted to an additional 50,000 KES.

This brought the cumulative cost for the entire poshomill setup to approximately 200,000 KES.

Diversified Rural Investments

The tour extended beyond the poshomill, showcasing Okanga's other ventures at his homestead.

He revealed a two-bedroom house at his compound, stating its construction cost nearly 300,000 KES. The home is equipped with both solar power and wiring for future grid electricity connection.

His homestead also includes livestock. Okanga keeps approximately 70 chickens. He also maintains a flock of 15 guineafowl, which he affectionately refers to as 'kanga,' a nod to his own surname.

These guineafowl, priced at 2,000 KES each, serve a practical purpose as an early warning system against intruders, emitting an alarm when suspicious activity is detected.

Okanga further showcased his personal transportation, a motorcycle. He explained that he purchased this motorcycle for 70,000 KES.

He uses it for his travels, reducing reliance on public transport options like hiring boda-bodas, which he calculated could be costly over time.

In August 2024, Okanga met with Sudi at Obinna Show Live interview, and the flamboyant MP pledged to offer him Ksh1.3 million to start up his business.

Okanga used the money to set up various businesses, including the poshomill.
