Media personality Betty Kyallo and comedians Mulamwah, Terence Creative, and MC Jessy are set to represent Kenya in an upcoming cultural exchange trip to China.
The Chinese Embassy in Kenya announced the four as part of a delegation that will tour Hunan and Fujian provinces from September 15 to 23.
According to the embassy, the week-long visit is designed to showcase China’s rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and ongoing development projects.

The Growing Role of Digital Creators
The Kenyan influencers are expected to document and share their experiences across their platforms, offering followers a firsthand glimpse into life in the two provinces.
The trip highlights the growing role of digital creators in international diplomacy and cultural exchange.
By bringing together familiar Kenyan entertainers with diverse Chinese experiences, organizers hope to strengthen people-to-people ties while moving beyond traditional government-led programs.

Betty Kyallo, who has built a strong brand around lifestyle and travel, expressed excitement about the opportunity to tell fresh stories from abroad.
Mulamwah, known for his comic skits, is expected to add humor to the journey, while Terence Creative’s sharp storytelling style and MC Jessy’s stage presence are likely to give the tour a vibrant Kenyan flavor.

A Blend of History and Modernity
Hunan and Fujian, the provinces on the itinerary, are both celebrated for their mix of history and modern growth.
Hunan is famous as the home province of Mao Zedong and for its scenic landscapes, while Fujian boasts coastal beauty and is a hub for trade and technology.

This isn't the first time the Chinese Embassy has partnered with Kenyan creatives for cultural programming.
Over recent years, Beijing has increasingly tapped into Africa’s fast-growing influencer scene to deepen cultural ties, particularly with younger audiences who engage more readily with social media storytelling.
As the tour kicks off next week, Kenyan fans will be able to follow the journey directly through the creators’ digital platforms.
From travel vlogs and behind-the-scenes clips to reflections on culture and development, the trip promises to blend entertainment with cross-cultural learning.
