Renowned Kenyan content creator Terence Creative on Tuesday took a break from his holiday in Dubai to address a public spat involving musician Shalkido.

Terence expressed deep disappointment, stating Shalkido had "insulted him badly".

The dispute arose after Shalkido, during an interview on the Obinna Show Live, reacted strongly to the general advice Terence had shared with artists on August 26.

The Advice That "Rattled"

Terence's initial advice, posted on August 26, was a general message to "fellow artists". He spoke from personal experience, having witnessed how artists are treated during their fame and heydays and when fame fades.

His core message was a call for artists to invest in their future selves.

“My advice is simple invest in your future self, get a land build for your family, hata kama ni mabati look for a side hustle hata kama ni kuuza mayai ama njugu have some cash flow, save have insurance ya health, Education policy for your kids and also save to have an emergency fund and kitu tu unaweza kulanga dividence,” Terence advised.

He urged artists to "think of your retirement now" and acknowledged that their careers have a shelf life, encouraging them to learn from those who came before them.

Shalkido Feels Targeted

It was from this that Terence’s advice that Shalkido seemingly felt targeted. Speaking on Obinna Show Live, although not mentioning Terence directly, he insulted him for kicking his belly when he was at his lowest moment.

"Then you get another person coming and saying 'ooh artists invest when you are young’, what are we investing in? Why didn't he come and tell me at that time? Where was he? Never jump on something you don't know," Shalkido angrily reacted.

Terence's Response: "Your Attitude is So Wrong"

Reacting to Shalkido's comments, Terence clarified that his August 26 advice was "general advice" and was not targeting any particular individual.

He emphasised that they do not know each other personally, unlike his acquaintance with Miracle Baby.

Terence expressed significant concern over Shalkido's attitude, describing it as "so so wrong" and urging him to change it.

"If that is your attitude, bro, you need to change it. Eh, in this particular phase, umepata second chance na watu watakusaidia na ni vizuri unasaidika."

Terence highlighted that Shalkido had been given a second opportunity by both God and Kenyans, a chance many suffering individuals do not receive.

He urged Shalkido to "take this as a lesson, learn from your previous mistake, and correct".

Lessons from the Industry and an Offer of Help

Drawing on his extensive industry knowledge, Terence cited examples of even prominent artists who engage in side hustles to sustain themselves and pay bills.

He mentioned individuals selling groundnuts or eggs, owning motorbikes, or, like Tom Daktari, who began vending water.

Terence reiterated that his advice was not given "kwa ubaya" (with ill intent) and offered an apology if it offended.
