Nairobi’s nightlife and hospitality scene is about to get a major shake-up as the city hosts the first ever Kenya Bartender Week (KBW) from September 2nd to 8th 2025.
The week-long festival will shine a spotlight on Kenya’s bartending community, celebrating the artistry, innovation, and sense of community that define the country’s growing cocktail culture.
The inaugural event was launched at Hero Bar in Village Market and has already attracted support from a wide network of partners. Their involvement signals the importance of Kenya Bartender Week not just for nightlife lovers but for the broader hospitality and tourism industries.
According to co-founder Richie Barrow, the festival is about more than just drinks: “At Kenya Bartender Week, we are proud to celebrate bartenders as artists and storytellers, and to showcase Nairobi’s bar scene as a vibrant, exciting destination. This week is about community, creativity, and driving excellence in our craft.”

A Taste of What’s Coming
The program is packed with activities designed to engage both professionals and enthusiasts.
Kenya Bartender Week will bring together an exciting lineup of experiences that blend international flair with local creativity. Bartenders from Cape Town, Accra, Athens and Dubai will be flying in to join the celebrations, while media and journalists from the United States will also be in attendance, adding a global spotlight to the event.
From September 4th to 5th, Nairobi’s most popular bars will come alive with special takeover nights, where local and international talent will collaborate behind the counter to create unforgettable cocktail moments.
The same days will also feature industry-led workshops and masterclasses, designed to sharpen skills, introduce new techniques, and inspire Kenya’s growing bartender community.
The week will culminate in the highly anticipated cocktail festival at Tribe Hotel on September 6th. Running from morning until evening, the festival promises an immersive experience with dozens of pop-up bars, tasting portions, brand activations, food stalls, and engaging panel discussions, all curated to celebrate the artistry and culture of cocktails in Kenya.
Throughout the week, participating bars across Nairobi and beyond will be serving Kenyan inspired cocktails, highlighting local ingredients and giving guests a true taste of the country’s creativity.
With its mix of international flair and homegrown talent, Kenya Bartender Week is more than just a festival it’s a milestone moment that positions Nairobi as a global cocktail destination.
