Franklin Mark Gogo, popularly known as MC Gogo, has spoken out after being dragged into claims about his sexuality and an alleged relationship with a prominent Kenyan governor.
The entertainer, who has built a name as one of the country’s fastest-rising hype men, dismissed the allegations as baseless and misleading.
A blogger had accused him of being romantically involved with a youthful, high-profile governor, sparking speculation online.
The Kingly Hype Man Speaks Out
During a phone interview with Milele FM’s Ankali Ray, MC Gogo made it clear that there was no truth to the claims.
When asked directly if he was gay, he laughed off the question, noting that he had never even met the politician in question.
“Hatujuani, tunapatana wapi? Sijawahi muona, hata akicampaign sijamuona,” he said, insisting he is straight. The hype master added that such rumours are simply “part of the problems that come with being famous.”

From Dandora to the Spotlight
MC Gogo’s journey to stardom began in 2021 when a TikTok video of him hyping a crowd during “Ckay – Love Nwantiti” went viral.
His witty phrase, “Umeachwa mara saba na hujakufa…wacha zako,” instantly connected with fans and was remixed widely online.

Long before the fame, Gogo grew up in Dandora. After high school, he worked as a primary school teacher earning just KSh 3,000 a month.
Their free online shows attracted a loyal following, eventually leading to the launch of The Kingly Experience in 2022.
A Similar Ordeal: Frankie JustGymIt
Interestingly, MC Gogo is not the only Kenyan celebrity to face speculation about his sexuality. Popular fitness trainer Frank Kiarie, widely known as Frankie JustGymIt, has also had to address similar rumours.
In July 2024, Frankie came under scrutiny after posting photos in retro-inspired outfits, including heeled boots, wide-legged pants, and manicured nails—styles some netizens associated with the queer community.
Frankie, a father of four, clarified in a YouTube video that his fashion sense had evolved but that his sexuality remained unchanged. “I love women. I love women so much that I had to get a couple,” he joked.
