The Shocking Ban and Its Impact

Mosiria's journey to recovery began after his account was permanently banned by TikTok. He described the moment as "uchungu sana," meaning very painful, especially given the large number of followers who relied on his content for information.

The ban stemmed from a video posted from a Pipeline nightclub, which TikTok mistakenly interpreted as showing nudity of women stripping in a street club.

Mosiria clarified that the video was part of an enforcement activity aimed at creating awareness and informing authorities to take action.

“TikTok mistakenly thought it was a new video of the nakedness of those people, but really what we are just posting is an enforcement activity that helps to create awareness to inform the authorities to take action,” he clarified.

The permanent ban felt like a complete loss of hope for Mosiria, as screenshots confirmed the account was permanently banned.

A Lifeline for Many

According to Mosiria, the TikTok account was more than just a personal platform; it was a lifeline for many individuals in need. Mosiria revealed several impactful fundraising efforts that were halted by the ban:

• KES 422,000 was raised for a child requiring surgery in India, out of a KES 2.5 million target.

• KES 376,000 was raised for a paralysed mother.

• Efforts were underway to raise KES 300,000 for a child needing throat surgery and KES 50,000 for a girl requiring a prosthetic leg, with a goal of KES 100,000.

Mosiria expressed deep concern about how these ongoing efforts would continue without his main platform.

Relentless Appeals and Government Intervention

Initially, Mosiria appealed TikTok's decision multiple times, but his appeals were consistently rejected. Faced with this roadblock, he sought assistance from key figures in the Kenyan government.

He connected with Dennis Itumbi, who is involved with the creative economy, and David Mugonyi, the Director General and CEO of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK). Both officials assured him of their support.

Mosiria's persistence was remarkable. He submitted over 50 appeal requests and even reached out to the President, emphasizing the account's importance for environmental awareness.

A Grateful Creator

Following the successful reinstatement, Mosiria conveyed his profound gratitude:

“I want to sincerely thank CAK, Mr. Mugonyi, and Mr. Itumbi for their intervention and support in ensuring that due process was followed. This outcome not only restores my ability to engage with over 1.2 million followers but also reinforces the importance of fairness and transparency in digital platforms,” he said.

Mosiria credited the government, stating that they "can solve problems which we are unable to resolve".

He also thanked entertainment websites, blogs, and his loyal fans for their support. Mosiria concluded with immense happiness, inviting his followers to continue engaging with his content.
