In a renewed push to curb drug abuse, the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) conducted a high-impact enforcement operation in Bondeni, Nakuru, on the night of 11 August 2025.
The targeted operation, focused on dismantling narcotics supply networks exploiting vulnerable communities, led to the arrest of a prime suspect and the confiscation of illegal substances intended for minors.
Acting on intelligence, a NACADA-led team stormed a suspected drug den in Bondeni, apprehending a woman found with multiple rolls of cannabis (bhang) and cannabis-infused cookies ready for distribution. Investigations revealed that her husband is allegedly the ringleader of a trafficking network supplying drugs to young children in the area—an alarming practice that endangers their health and future.
NACADA says the swift operation underscores its firm resolve to dismantle drug trafficking cartels and shield communities from harmful exploitation.
The discovery of cannabis-laced edibles illustrates the manipulative tactics traffickers employ to lure minors into substance abuse.

Speaking on the crackdown, NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa reiterated the Authority’s uncompromising stance:
“We will not rest until every individual involved in the narcotics trade faces the full force of the law. This arrest is just the beginning; we are pursuing all accomplices to ensure this network is completely dismantled.”
The suspect is currently in custody as authorities continue investigations to uncover the full scope of the operation and prosecute all involved parties.
NACADA is urging members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious drug-related activity through its toll-free hotlines, reaffirming its mission to achieve a drug-free society.

This latest raid sends a clear warning to traffickers: NACADA’s enforcement efforts remain relentless, and no perpetrator will escape justice.
While the fight against drug abuse is ongoing, NACADA believes that sustained cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the community will secure a lasting victory.
