Religion in Kenya
Based on data from the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census, Christianity is the dominant religion in the country, followed by an estimated 85.5% of the population.
This includes various denominations, with Protestantism accounting for 33.4%, Catholicism for 20.6%, and Evangelicalism at 20.4%. Other Christian groups and African-initiated churches make up the remainder of the Christian population.
The second-largest religion in Kenya is Islam, practiced by 10.9% of the population. Other religious groups in the country include Hindus, who constitute a very small percentage of the population at about 0.13%, along with Buddhists and followers of traditional religions.
A small percentage of the population (1.6%) reported having no religion.

The Global Picture
From the stats, it is evident that daily prayer is more prevalent in low and middle-income nations compared to many Western, secular countries.
For instance, the survey notes that in places like Sweden, France, and Germany, less than 20% of the population prays daily.
In contrast, the United States stands out among Western nations, with 44% of its population reporting daily prayer.
The data also showed that India, with 71% of its population praying daily, has the largest absolute number of people who pray daily, a staggering figure of more than 1 billion people.
This confirms that for billions of people worldwide, prayer remains a fundamental part of daily life.
