In a heartfelt public tribute, popular actor Pascal Tokodi has honoured veteran actor and scriptwriter Abel Mutua, reflecting on their shared history and Mutua's immense influence on his career.
Tokodi's message, shared on his social media pages, embodied the gesture of gratitude, celebrating Mutua's enduring legacy in the Kenyan entertainment industry.
Tokodi’s Heartfelt Tribute
Tokodi began by recalling how he got to know Abel Mutua by watching him on TV before finally meeting him in personally and later collaborating on several life-changing projects.

“I still remember watching you in my parents living room, then the day you came to Changez to watch our play......, man, it was one of the most unforgettable moments of my life,” Tokodi said.

“Years later, getting the chance to create Mawowowo and Makosa ni Yangu with you felt like living a dream. Big bro, receive your flowers while you can still smell them. Thank you for the guidance, the inspiration, and the legacy you continue to build,” he added.
From the Stage to the Screen
Both Pascal Tokodi and Abel Mutua found their way into the acting limelight through different paths.
Mutua, a legend in the industry, first gained prominence as an actor, playing the iconic role of Freddie on the popular high school drama Tahidi High from the mid-2000s.
He later transitioned from acting to become a scriptwriter and producer, a move that would cement his place as a creative powerhouse.
Tokodi's career also started on television. He first appeared on the show Makutano Junction before landing a role in the show Groove Theory, which further established his talent.
However, it was his starring role in a popular dramedy series that truly elevated him to national recognition, a project on which he would later collaborate with Abel Mutua.

A Powerful Creative Partnership
The two talents have worked together on several key projects, shaping a new era of Kenyan television. Their most notable collaboration was on the hit show Sue na Jonnie, which aired between 2017 and 2019.
In the series, Mutua served as a writer and creative director, while Tokodi played the lead role of Jonnie.
The show, which was a runaway success, showcased their combined creative genius and became a benchmark for local television production. It was through such projects that their professional relationship evolved into a lasting mentorship, with Mutua guiding Tokodi and other young actors in the industry.
Tokodi’s gesture has been praised by many in the industry, who view it as a much-needed recognition of the creative minds working behind the scenes.
