Two teenagers have been detained for the brutal torture and killing of two kittens in a case described by a judge as "the most awful offences against animals” in the United Kingdom.
The two 17-year-olds were sentenced to detention in London after pleading guilty to the crimes.
The case has been widely reported and has raised significant concern over animal cruelty.
According to The Guardian, the teenagers, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to their age, admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals.

Disturbing Details of the Crime
The prosecutor, Valerie Benjamin, detailed the disturbing events in court. The boy's phone contained notes revealing a desire to murder someone, and he stated that he had been killing cats to reduce his urges.

His notes also indicated that he had skinned, strangled, and stabbed cats.
“I really wanted to murder someone. Every day, I was researching how to get away with murder,” read notes found on the boy’s phone. “I have killed cats to reduce my urges.”
He told police he suffered from “depression, anxiety, hallucinations and self-harm”, the prosecutor added.
The judge stated that the boy's actions were "extensively planned" and "clearly premeditated." Both teenagers also admitted to possessing a knife at a golf course, adding to the severity of the case.
The Ruling and Its Implications
The judge sentenced the boy to a 12-month detention and training order, while the girl received a 9-month custodial sentence. The ruling marked a stern response to the crime, with the judge emphasising the "sadistic" nature of the torture.

The case has been particularly unsettling for the public, especially given the ages of the perpetrators.
The case has also drawn attention to the issue of animal cruelty in the UK. According to statistics, thousands of cruelty reports are investigated each year, with a significant number of cases involving deliberate acts of violence against animals.
