Quickmart has issued an official statement following a recent incident at its Buruburu branch that has been circulating widely on social media.
The supermarket chain acknowledged the matter, stating it is taking the situation "very seriously" and has offered a public apology.
“Quickmart wishes to acknowledge the recent incidentcirculating on social media concerning a customer at our Buruburu branch.We want toassure our valued customers and the public that we are fully aware of the matter andare taking it very seriously,” the letter read in part.

The official statement, released on 5 August 2025, confirms that the company has taken immediate action in response to the public outcry.
Quickmart has suspended the staff members involved and has launched an investigation.
“As soon as we became aware of the situation, we took immediate action by placing the staff involved on suspension while conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with the relevant authorities,” part of the letter read.

"We deeply regret the distress this incident has caused and we sincerely apologize to the affected customer and to everyone who feels let down by this experience,” they added.

The statement reiterates that Quickmart's values are "founded on respect, kindness, and integrity" and that the management does not condone behaviour that goes against these principles.
To uphold these standards, the supermarket chain stated it regularly conducts training and seminars for its staff.
In a move to address the matter directly, Quickmart has confirmed it has been in contact with the customer at the centre of the controversy.
“We have personally reached out to the affected customer to offer our heartfelt apologies, reassurance and support. We want everyone to know that their safety, dignity, and respect are at the core of everything we do at Quickmart.”

The supermarket chain concluded its statement by thanking its customers for their understanding and trust.
It vowed to learn from the incident and ensure that all its stores "remain safe, welcoming spaces for everyone".
