Karangu Muraya, the well-known Akorino gospel singer and philanthropist, has issued a public apology to his estranged wife, Triza Mamake Muraya.
The apology comes after leaked audio recordings of Muraya discussing his wife with her best friends caused a social media firestorm.
In a heartfelt statement, the singer expressed deep remorse for his actions and asked for his wife's forgiveness.

Acknowledging the Wrong
The apology was direct and took full responsibility for the pain caused. Muraya admitted to saying and doing things that have caused her pain.
He specifically addressed the leaked audio, apologising for allowing people he assumed were her friends to discuss her.
“I want to pour my heart out and speak to Triza Mamake Muraya, the mother of my children. Triza, I have wronged you. I have said and done things that have caused you pain. I know I have failed you, and I take full responsibility for my mistakes. I'm sorry for allowing people I assumed were your friends to discuss you,” he said via a long Facebook post.

The leaked audio, which first went viral, reportedly featured Muraya and a woman named Essy gossiping about Triza.

In the leaked audio, Essy was allegedly talking to Karangu about how Triza was walking around wearing worn-out undergarments. Essy, while talking to Karangu, informed him of what she and her other friend, Esther Baumbach, were discussing about Triza.
In the conversation, Essy described how Triza had no good inner garments when she came to Nairobi after Karangu had abandoned her upcountry.
A Plea for Forgiveness and Family
In his apology, Muraya highlighted the stress and emotional turmoil he has been experiencing, citing a lack of stability and the sickness of a brother. However, he was quick to state that these were not excuses for his behaviour.
"None of these are an excuse for how I have treated you. You are the mother of my children. You deserve respect and protection from me, not pain."
He went on to remind Triza of the positive moments in their marriage, asking her to remember "both my wrong and my many rights." The singer’s focus shifted to their family, emphasising his desire to "rebuild the trust I have broken" and be a better father to their children.

The Path Forward
The gospel singer extended his apology beyond his wife to his friends, followers, family, and the brands he works with.
He asked for their forgiveness and prayers as he seeks to "stand again and correct my wrongs." The public apology, which he concluded with the prayer "Mungu anipe nguvu ya kusimama tena — this time as a better man", marks a significant step in the saga that has played out online.
The story has captivated Kenyans, with a significant number of social media users sympathising with Triza.
The public will now be watching to see if Muraya's apology will be accepted and if the couple can reconcile and rebuild their family.
