Kisumu came alive on Wednesday evening as a host of Kenya's biggest music stars gathered to pay tribute to the late showbiz promoter Maurice Ryan.

Artists and entertainers turned up in large numbers at Da Place Lounge to remember the man who played a huge part in their careers.

A Night of Tributes and Tears

The emotional concert brought together a star-studded line-up. Huge names like Avril, Arrow Bwoy, Otile Brown, King Kaka, Khaligraph Jones, Mejja, Timmy Tdat, Frasha, and Prince Indah all took to the stage.

They weren't alone. At least ten local DJs and MCs from Kisumu also joined in, making it a powerful night of music, shared memories, and a candlelight vigil.

These funds will also help cover his funeral and burial arrangements.

Earlier in the day, artists like Arrow Bwoy, Khaligraph, Mejja, and Prince Indah were seen arriving in Kisumu, ready to honour their friend.

"Together with my fellow Mights, we will gather to celebrate his memory, share light, and stand in unity. Let’s come together to honour a life that touched many," said Prince Indah.

A Lasting Legacy

Maurice's passing has caused a wave of grief across the Kenyan creative community. Many have spoken highly of his dedication to nurturing talent and helping to build the local entertainment scene from the ground up.

“He may be gone, but his impact will live on through the artists and events he helped shape,” said a Kisumu-based DJ who worked closely with him.

As the final song played and candles glowed, the atmosphere at Da Place Lounge was a powerful reminder of the legacy Maurice Ryan leaves behind: one of unity, passion, and truly unforgettable moments.
