Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has generated significant buzz across social media platforms following her announcement of an upcoming musical collaboration with Kamba gospel artist Stephen Kasolo.
The news, shared by Kasolo on his social media, indicated a song titled "Nikiwa Ndani/Nje Wanalia" (Whether I'm Inside/Outside, They Cry), featuring Governor Kawira Mwangaza, is set for release.
Mwangaza shared Kasolo’s post seemingly promoting their collaboration, saying that the people of Kitui are well represented.
“Kitui county well represented! Calling you soon at #CanaanRanch stadium Ntumburi,” Mwangaza shared.

This comes a few days after Mwangaza announced in a public forum that she’ll reward any artist who will record a song with the lyrics “Nikiuwa ndani wanalalamika, nikiwa nje wanalalamika”.
“I have a Sh100k prize for any artist, the one who will enter the studio and record a clean song, and this song should have these lyrics: When I'm inside, they cry, when I'm outside, they cry.”
The announcement of her musical collaboration with Stephen Kasolo has been met with varied responses from Kenyans online.
Some users expressed dissatisfaction with her move to collab with an artist from outside Meru. For instance, one comment read, "Tuko na waimbaji meru, sawa 2027 uendee kura mayakos" (We have Meru singers, good, in 2027 go for votes in Machakos).
Another user equipped, "Wewe Sasa kitui watakupea kura za governor" (Now Kitui will give you governor votes).
Conversely, other social media users displayed skepticism or criticism. Remarks like "Kulenĩ pesa za huyu mama kabisa..don't spare a coin" (Take all the money from this woman...don't spare a coin) and "Waimbaji wameru mko wapi??? mmekubali sasa" (Meru singers, where are you??? Have you accepted now?) reflect underlying doubts about the collaboration's authenticity or its political motivations.

The mixed reception to the song announcement mirrors the polarized opinions that have often surrounded Kawira Mwangaza's political career, demonstrating how her every move continues to be a subject of public debate and scrutiny.
This venture into music by the former governor has elicited a wide range of reactions from the Kenyan public, adding another layer to her already prominent and often controversial public profile.
Kawira Mwangaza, known for her distinctive political style and her previous tenure as Meru's governor, has a history of engaging with the public through unconventional means.
Her husband, Murega Baichu, often referred to as her "guitar husband," has been a visible part of her public image, frequently accompanying her and playing the guitar at public events.
This personal aspect of her political life has often drawn attention, both positive and critical, contributing to her unique brand. The former governor's political journey has been marked by notable challenges, including an impeachment process during her time in office.

This attempt to remove her from power garnered national attention, highlighting the intense political dynamics within Meru County. Despite these hurdles, Mwangaza has demonstrated resilience, recently confirming her acquisition of a new political party, the "Umoja na Maendeleo Party".
This move signals her continued intent to remain a key player in Kenya's political arena, preparing for future electoral contests.
