Kenyan-Norwegian Afro-pop group Matata is coming home—and the excitement is real.
The high-energy group has officially announced their homecoming concert, set to take place in Nairobi on August 9, 2025, promising fans an electric night of music, dance, and culture.
Known for their infectious energy and viral hits, Matata has had an incredible year, captivating audiences with back-to-back bangers like ‘Mpishi’ ft. Bien and ‘Tiki Tako’ ft. Mejja.
Their sound is a genre-blending mix of Gengetone, Afrobeats, and hip-hop, anchored in Kenyan street slang (Sheng) and Kikuyu, with international flair.

Matata’s story is as unique as their music. The group was formed in 2016 in Oslo, Norway, where the members had moved to pursue education and dance training.
What started as a friendship bonded by a love for dance evolved into a powerhouse music collective that’s now representing Kenya on global stages.
Their debut single ‘Denge’, released in 2019, marked the beginning of their rise in both local and international music scenes.
Since then, they’ve built a solid catalogue of hits including ‘MareMare’, ‘Kata’, and ‘Mapema’, which continue to enjoy massive airplay and club rotation.

More than just recording artists, Matata are known for their high-octane performances—a signature blend of choreography, humor, and crowd interaction that has won them fans from Paris to Amsterdam.
Every show is a celebration of African creativity, and their upcoming Nairobi concert is expected to be no different.
This homecoming is more than just a performance. For Matata, it’s a moment to reconnect with their roots, celebrate the fans who’ve supported them since day one, and show just how far Kenyan talent can go when it’s nurtured, refined, and boldly presented to the world.
As anticipation builds, one thing is certain: Nairobi is in for a treat.
