A romantic getaway to Dubai for Presenter Kai and his wife, Diana Yegon, took an unexpected and terrifying turn when Diana became separated from him and was lost for several hours in the unfamiliar city.
Kai recounted the harrowing experience on the Obinna Show, detailing the frantic search and the emotional reunion.
The couple's trip to Dubai was primarily for enjoyment, not business, though they had scheduled a meeting with a company on their final night.

After concluding their business, they decided to do some shopping to bring back new items home. This decision inadvertently set the stage for the distressing incident.
As they navigated the city, they found themselves on an escalator. Kai, his wife, and a companion were recording reels, capturing memories for social media. As they reached the end of the escalator, a train arrived, and time was of the essence as they wanted to reach a supermarket.
In a rush, Kai and the friend quickly boarded the train, but Diana hesitated. The doors closed, leaving her behind as the train departed with her husband and companion inside. To compound the crisis, Diana's phone had run out of battery and turned off.
The immediate realization of their separation plunged Kai into panic. Neither he nor Diana had purchased a local SIM card, and Kai initially believed he had no internet access, though their friend reportedly did.
Their first instinct was to disembark at the next station and take a return train to find Diana, assuming she would wait where they had left her, as she was unfamiliar with their intended destination.

"So, I know in my head that she doesn't know where we were going so she will wait for us. We got off and took the train that was returning to that place. We went around everywhere, the ground center she wasn't there. I went online and called her and I told her I prayed to God that when you get there, you will even ask for a phone charge and inform us where you are,” Kai recalled.
The search continued in a desperate loop. They returned to the station where Diana was left, searched again fruitlessly, then proceeded to the supermarket they had planned to visit, hoping she might have gone there directly. As evening turned into night, around 9 or 10 PM, Kai's anxiety grew so. Eventually, their friend had to leave for work, leaving Kai to continue the agonizing search alone.
He made his way back to their hotel, praying for his wife's safety in a foreign land. A chilling premonition struck him as he approached the reception; his fears were confirmed when he found their room key still there, indicating Diana had not returned.
He went to their room, hoping it was a prank or that she had somehow opened the door, but she wasn't there. Kai was left with no option but to wait, feeling helpless and contemplating how one would even announce a missing person in Dubai. He waited for many hours, almost until midnight.

The separation had begun around 6 PM, just as darkness set in. After two hours of frantic searching, Kai admitted he had started to give up hope. He reached out to his brother and sister-in-law, informing them of the situation.
"I arrived at the hotel by the way, the first thing I did was communicate with my brother-in-law and his wife. They were looking for me because of some things, I told him I was not available by phone because I was outside the country and I didn't have internet, but I had a little trouble with my wife, so even now I am alone in the hotel, let's just pray that she returns safely."
Then, sometime around midnight, Kai heard voices in the corridor. It was Diana, speaking with a hotel staff member, possibly a cleaner, who had helped her gain access to the room.
The reunion was deeply emotional. Upon opening the door, there was no need for words; their relief and happiness were expressed through tears, a mixture of disappointment from the ordeal and immense joy at being reunited safely in a foreign country.

This traumatic experience left a profound impact on Kai. He stated that since that day, he has never walked ahead of his wife anywhere. Diana, too, had her perspective, reportedly blaming Kai for not jumping off the train to follow her.
Kai admitted he felt immense guilt, shedding tears for the "hard time" he had put her through, acknowledging that she was completely alone while he at least had a companion familiar with the city.
