Prior to this, in September 2024, Ruto also made news for acquiring another sophisticated matatu, 'Matrix', rumored to have costed him Ksh8.7 million.

This purchase was reportedly made strategically to mitigate competition against his existing fleet in an upcoming matatu awards ceremony.

He has frequently been in the news for his strategic moves and ownership of other prominent vehicles that ply various city routes.

Among these is the famously known 'Manifest' matatu, which, despite its popularity, reportedly faced past controversies over its road conduct, leading to its rerouting from the busy Rongai route to Embakasi.
