Renowned Tanzanian music icon Alikiba has officially confirmed that artists K2ga and Tommy Flavor have departed from his prominent record label, Kings Music.

The move sees both artists transitioning to independent careers, a development Alikiba insists was executed amicably and with ongoing support from the label.

Alikiba, the CEO of Kings Music, while speaking in an interview at Crown FM, explicitly addressed persistent rumors suggesting a rift within the label or even its alleged demise.

"They have decided to be free artists, to be able to be dependent on themselves," Alikiba explained, highlighting the label's role in fostering their growth before their transition.

He emphasized that, despite their formal departure from the label's roster, their relationship with Kings Music remains strong and familial. Alikiba repeatedly affirmed that Kings Music will always be considered "home" for the duo, welcoming them back at any time.

Further quashing speculation, Alikiba emphatically confirmed the continued operational status of Kings Music as a vibrant record label. He dismissed claims that "Kings is dead" or "Kings is no longer there," asserting, "Kings, as a record label, is still in existence and will continue to be there".

Alikiba characterizes Kings Music as a "music college," signifying its role in nurturing talent and providing a learning environment for aspiring artists. This perspective suggests a model where artists, once developed, may transition to independent ventures while maintaining ties with their foundational institution.

The amicable nature of the separation is further evidenced by ongoing collaborative efforts. Alikiba disclosed that Kings Music has already worked on new songs with both K2ga and Tommy Flavor, some of which are slated for release and will feature other artists currently associated with the Kings Music brand.

"We are still behind them, we support them," Alikiba stated, affirming the label's commitment to their continued success despite their independent status.

He noted that the artists departed with great joy and are now pursuing their music "peacefully".

Amidst the news of their departure, financial speculation circulated regarding the terms of their exit, with figures such as 100 million or 80 million Tanzanian shillings being mentioned as potential payments. However, Alikiba declined to confirm or deny any specific financial arrangements. He maintained a stance of confidentiality, stating, "I cannot expose things that people agreed upon privately.”

This development marks a new chapter for K2ga and Tommy Flava as they embark on their independent music careers. At the same time, Kings Music continues its mission as a music college and a significant entity in the Tanzanian music industry under Alikiba's stewardship.

Kings Music record label now remains with Vanilla and Abdukiba, who is Alikiba’s younger brother.
