Lydia KM, the mental health and wellness champion has offered insights into her formative years and early professional life.
In a revealing quickfire question and answer session with Kalondu Musyimi from Mpasho, Lydia KM, the Instagram Influencer of the Year 2024 and Founder of @kagiewellness delved into topics ranging from her real name to her career beginnings.
She disclosed that her initial foray into the professional world was as a salesperson for 118 247. Describing the company, she clarified, it was "the phone book before Google".
This role was undertaken in 2009, directly after she completed high school.
“I worked as a salesperson for 118 247, the Phonebook, before Google came. That must be in 2009 after I finished High School,” she recalled.
When asked about her earnings at the time, Lydia KM recounted receiving approximately £160 a week (approximately Ksh28,000). She also noted her uncertainty regarding the modern-day equivalent of that sum.
Her educational background before this first job involved GCSEs, as she did not take the KCPE examinations. During her school years, History was her favorite subject, while Maths was her least favorite.
She further pursued higher education, earning an undergraduate degree in law and a master's degree in international commercial law. Lydia KM also shared that she grew up in Bristol, UK.
The candid conversation provided further personal glimpses, including that her childhood and current nickname remains Lidya, and she stands at 5'3".
Her favourite meal is pasta or lasagna, which is also the dish she cooks best, while her least favourite is cabbage.
When asked about her favourite football team, Lydia KM responded with "Arsenal till I die.”
Regarding her least favourite football teams, Lydia KM stated: “Manchester United and Chelsea.”
She further elaborated on annoying football fans, mentioning Manchester United and Liverpool as "one of those two."
