Prominent social media personality and content creator Diana Marua has openly discussed a profoundly difficult chapter of her life, detailing her journey through physical insecurity and the dire consequences of using harmful beauty products.
This personal narrative shared across her digital platforms, detailed her experience following the birth of her first child, Heaven Bahati.
Marua described this period as "one of the lowest moments" and a "dark season" in her life, marked by desperation to reclaim her pre-pregnancy appearance.
The challenges began shortly after welcoming her daughter, Heaven Bahati. Diana Marua recounted experiencing considerable physical changes, notably significant weight gain, moving from approximately 65 kilograms before her marriage to 92 kilograms by the time of her first pregnancy.
Concurrently, her face developed a severe breakout of pimples. These visible changes unfortunately made her a target for online criticism and negative remarks.
“The trolling began — people called me names, even referred to me as “Shosh”. It crushed me. I became insecure, desperate and ended up using harmful products that took me through hell,” Marua vividly recalled.
Fueled by intense insecurity and a fervent desire to reverse these changes and appear "young and beautiful," Marua embarked on a search for a quick solution.
This quest led her to encounter an individual who subsequently recommended her to use a particular product.
The results, however, were catastrophic and immediate. Marua vividly described the horrifying reaction her skin had shortly after application.
"This product in two weeks later, it's like now my face was becoming triple its size.”
She asserted the truthfulness of her account and mentioned her previous instances of sharing this story online, even promising to share pictures to illustrate the severity of her ordeal.
Throughout this profoundly challenging and painful period, Diana Marua emphasized the invaluable support she received from her husband, Bahati Kenya
"But through it all, my hubby @bahatikenya stood by me," she gratefully stated, highlighting his emotional backing during her personal crisis.
Fast-forward, Marua revealed that she feels she has gathered enough courage to open up about this dark season not merely as a personal recollection but with a crucial dual objective - to educate and encourage every girl going through the same.
