Heavy police deployment has been reported in key parts of Nairobi’s Central Business District ahead of planned protests expected later in the day.
Officers in full gear have been stationed along Kenyatta Avenue, Moi Avenue, and around the National Archives area, although no crowd activity had been observed as of the time of reporting.
In the wider city area, traffic is flowing smoothly along Wayaki Way, with officers positioned near the Kangemi footbridge as of 6:00 AM.
A partial roadblock was mounted along Jogoo Road near Makongeni by 6:00 AM, restricting movement in the area.
On Valley Road, access has been partially blocked near the Department of Defence (DOD).
The Supreme Court area has seen a heavy police presence, while City Hall Way is currently blocked to traffic.
Parliament Road also remains closed, with security intensified around the Parliament buildings since 6:00 AM.
Elsewhere, Thika Road has reported no disturbances, with traffic moving without interruption.
On the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway near Kimende, a group of residents lit bonfires and placed stones on the road at around 5:00 AM, temporarily disrupting traffic.
The obstruction was cleared by 5:45 AM, though police continue to monitor the area.
Authorities remain on high alert and are monitoring the situation across the city.
