Tension flared in Nairobi’s CBD on Wednesday as protesters were forced to run for safety after police lobbed teargas along Kenyatta Avenue during ongoing Gen-Z protests.

The scene turned chaotic as clouds of tear gas engulfed the area, sending demonstrators fleeing in different directions.

A section of the police officers, some mounted on horses, moved in to disperse the crowds, shouting orders as they advanced.

In the heat of the confrontation, some protesters retaliated by hurling stones at the officers, sparking a fierce standoff.
