As the community mourns the passing of Albert Ojwang, details are emerging regarding the extensive preparations for his final send-off, particularly the considerable thought put into ensuring guests are well-catered for.

The family spokes personnel during an interview with Oga Obinna revealed their budget estimations, indicating a significant sum allocated to refreshments and related logistics for what is anticipated to be a large gathering.

According to preliminary estimations, the family had initially earmarked a modest budget for refreshments, including all associated services and even the dais.

This budget was conceptualized with an expected attendance of around 3,000 people who would receive refreshments at home. Considering the scale and nature of the funeral, there's an acknowledgment that the actual number of attendees could potentially be even higher than this initial projection.

The approximated cost for catering to these 3,000 individuals, encompassing not just the refreshments themselves but also essential elements like tents, decoration, and all other ancillary items, stands at a substantial 4.5 million shillings. This figure highlights the comprehensive nature of their planning, aiming to accommodate a large number of mourners comfortably and respectfully.

“We had a budget for refreshments or and everything including the dais - a modest one and we were thinking of around 3,000 people that might get refreshments at home. And when you look at 3,000 people and you see the nature of this funeral it may even be more but 3,000 people, we approximated for around 4.5 million,” he said.

However, the family has also indicated a pragmatic approach to their budgeting. There is a possibility that this estimated budget might need to be reduced even further due to a lack of funds. Should this become necessary, it would imply a prorating of the expenses, leading to a situation where the people will be cut for much less.

“So if we use 3,000 people as a figure and include the tents and all other things that the decoration and all that kind of thing. It's almost 4.5 million,” he insisted.

During the interview, the family clarified that while multiple pay bills circulated, including one initiated by Eric Omondi, their official family pay bill and the one that Eric shared both terminate into one central, official family account, ensuring no conflict or confusion.

As of the latest update, the spokesperson confirmed that the official family account currently holds approximately 2.06 million Kenyan Shillings, explicitly stating that they don't have 10 million. This amount, they clarified, includes all contributions received from the general public, as well as significant donations from dignitaries, including the President.

“So as we speak I can confirm to you that we don't have 10 million. We have about 2.06 million in this account that is official," the spokesperson confirmed.
