The topic of polygamy, often described as a very serious and sensitive issue that is rampant in many societies today, has seen comedian and media personality Dr. Ofweneke present a controversial and pragmatic viewpoint.

He asserts that the right to engage in, or even discuss, polygamy belongs exclusively to the financially affluent.

Speaking with Betty Kyallo on TV47, Ofweneke, who was joined in the conversation by Pastor Sue Munene, argued that the poor should be prohibited from meddling in the matters to do with polygamy discussions.

"If you are a poor man, do not comment about polygamy," Dr. Ofweneke declared, setting a blunt tone for his argument.

He contended that a man unable to even feed that one wife he already has, has no business contemplating additional spouses. For him, polygamy is unequivocally a conversation that only rich men can afford, emphasizing that it's fundamentally not for the poor.

"If you are a poor man, do not comment about polygamy because you cannot even feed that one that you have. So don't comment about you know polygamy is bad, you are poor, you can't even fit these words, shut up,” Ofweneke added.

He even extended this financial logic to marital dissolution, stating that poor people should not divorce because there's nothing to divide, unlike the rich who have something to share.

“Divorce when you're rich, because there's something to share. When you're a poor man, you're not even supposed to divorce, what are you divorcing for? Poor people should not divorce.”

Dr. Ofweneke also offered frank advice to women regarding fidelity and the realities of polygamous relationships. He provocatively urged women to "check the financial status of your husband" before confidently proclaiming his faithfulness, suggesting a man's perceived loyalty might simply stem from his lack of funds. He controversially stated that a man's true inclination for polygamy only becomes clear "Wait until your man gets money".

For women aspiring to progress from a "side chick" to a "second wife," he issued stark warnings. He firmly asserted that the first house is untouchable and a second wife should not have the contacts of the first wife.

He maintained that no man will leave the first wife for the second wife, implying that any such separation is due to pre-existing issues between the original couple.

"If you are a side chick who is soon to be progressed to the level of a second wife, you must know the first house is untouchable. You have no business having the first wife's number. This thing of you should as a second potential wife, you should not have the contacts."

Second wives, he cautioned, have a shakeable position and can always be replaced, while the first wife never leaves unless under dire circumstances or death. He also advised women within marriage not to leave their homes unless explicitly told to by their husbands, regardless of an argument.
