Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee, the charismatic former Harambee Stars coach and beloved Radio Jambo morning co-host, is known for his infectious laughter and incredibly positive outlook on life.
But perhaps the most intriguing aspect of his philosophy is his claim that his sadness lasts for a mere 30 seconds. For entertainment enthusiasts and anyone seeking a dose of resilience, Mulee's unique approach to emotional well-being offers fascinating insights.
Speaking at Dr. Ofweneke’s Lessons @30 podcast, Mulee revealed why he has such a unique rule of managing his sadness to a mere 30 seconds before restoring his happiness and ever-jovial face.
He strongly advocates against carrying sadness or sleeping with a heavy heart, regardless of the troubles one faces.
“God created human beings for happiness. We make ourselves sad. My sadness lasts for 30 seconds. I don't want to carry sadness. You'll die more years than you've lived,” Ghost Mulee revealed.
His philosophy is rooted in the belief that "now that you are living, God has given you an opportunity. Why should you get mad?". He questions, "Why should you sleep with a heavy heart for what? Enjoy life, be happy. Even in trouble, be happy. That's the way I am".
Mulee's life story provides a compelling backdrop to his remarkable resilience. Born in Pumwani, Nairobi, he narrates that he was raised by a single mother alongside 11 children, a household dynamic that instilled in him speed and surprise.

His career is a testament to this unwavering optimism. According to him, he won his first coaching trophy at the tender age of 13, while still in secondary school. He fulfilled a childhood dream of coaching the Harambee Stars, leading them to qualify for the African Cup of Nations.
Even his perspective on mortality reflects his joyful approach to life. Nearing 60 years of age, Mulee expresses profound gratitude for every day and every minute he lives.
Beyond his professional achievements and life philosophy, Mulee has occasionally made headlines for his frank opinions. For instance, in past public statements, Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has reportedly expressed a preference for cremation over burial, a stance that has garnered attention for its unconventional nature in some cultural contexts.
During a casual chat with friend and workmate Joe Gidi, Mulee expressed his desire to be cremated once he dies, a move which he said hugely contradicts the traditions of his Akamba community, but still insists, should be done to him once he dies.
“I still haven’t changed my mind, in case I depart this world today, please cremate me,” Ghost said while laughing.
