Kanye West, the controversial artist and fashion mogul, has once again sent the entertainment world into a frenzy with reports of a second, subtle yet significant, name change.
The man legally known as "Ye" is now, according to new business documents, shifting his moniker to "Ye Ye" adding another perplexing layer to his ever-evolving and often controversial public persona.
As reported by America’s biggest tabloid, Page Six, new business documents filed in California by West’s chief financial officer, Hussein Lalani, list the "Gold Digger" rapper under the name “Ye Ye.”
This marks a departure from his previous paperwork, which simply listed him as “Ye West.” Companies associated with West, including Yeezy Apparel, Yeezy Record Label, LLC, and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc., now all reflect this new moniker under the "manager or member name" sections.
While West himself has yet to make a public announcement or offer a direct explanation for the "Ye Ye" addition, the move has already sparked a mix of confusion and amusement among fans and observers, reflecting his long-standing tendency to challenge norms and redefine himself.
This latest adjustment comes less than four years after his first official legal name change in 2021. Prior to that, he was known globally by his birth name, Kanye Omari West.
He formally adopted "Ye" in August 2021, a name he had already used informally and for his critically acclaimed 2018 album.
At the time, West explained his choice by citing its biblical meaning, stating, "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So, I'm you, and I'm us. It's us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye, just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confusion, everything. It's just who we are."
The consistent evolution of his public identity is often intertwined with the dramatic shifts in his personal life and career, particularly since his highly publicized divorce from reality television superstar Kim Kardashian.

Their marriage, which began with a lavish ceremony in May 2014, spanned nearly eight years before Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021. The divorce was officially finalized in November 2022.
Since the dissolution of his marriage, West's online activities have frequently veered into contentious and often inflammatory territory.
He has used social media platforms to launch malice rants, targeting Kim Kardashian and her family, as well as various figures in the music industry and pop culture.
These unfiltered remarks, sometimes accompanied by controversial fashion choices or public displays of controversial symbols, have drawn widespread condemnation and led to temporary bans from social media platforms.
His public battles over co-parenting and his children's appearances in media have also been a recurring theme in his online tirades, keeping his name constantly in headlines.
Amidst these ongoing controversies, West has also embarked on a highly publicized relationship with Australian architect Bianca Censori.
The couple reportedly had a private wedding ceremony in December 2022, just a month after West's divorce from Kardashian was finalized.
