Gospel artist Ringtone Apoko has come forward to share some lessons he has learned about the realities of life lately and why he no longer wants to get involved in publicity stunts.

The controversial gospel musician explained that, especially after being arrested by the police and charged with trying to scam a woman of land worth Sh50 million two weeks ago, he has learned to return to God and be humble.

“If there is one thing I have learned right now, I want God to teach me to be quiet and humble,” he said in an interview with Trudy Kitui.

“You know, sometimes there is this art that we are taught that if you boast yourself, you get a lot of likes and followers, but I have come to realize the more you boast, the devil uses that and your enemies to bring you down,” he added.

“If I was showing off before, now I will not show off anymore, I just want to be a humble, Godly young man with few words. I want to serve God,” he said, adding that even his peers who used to show off their possessions online, such as KRG the Do,n have also cut back these days.

“Because the thing is, there are people out there whose job is to envy people. Sometimes you can make jokes about something, say for instance, bread. Everybody knows bread price is Sh50 bob, but you do a stunt boasting that yours is Sh500.”

“And maybe that’s just content creation, but someone will take it seriously and think you are showing off and pray God to let you fall. Many people out there pray that you fall,” Ringtone explained his reason for the change.

When pressed to address the rumors that he slowed down on social media activities after going bankrupt, the musician denied the claims.

“I reached a point and saw no need to do publicity stunts and clout chasing. Right now, let me just do my work of serving God. I’m way beyond clout chasing right now, I leave that for these upcoming celebrities, the likes of Kenyan Prince and his peers,” Ringtone clarified.
