Gospel artiste Justina Syokau has urged her Kenyan fans to stop unfollowing her on social media over what she feels is probably the assumption that she was among musicians who went to DP Kithure Kindiki's meeting in Karen.

Syokau took to her Facebook page in a short video where she pleaded with fans to stop unfollowing her as she was not among those who went to Karen for DP Kithure Kindiki’s invite last Friday.

The controversial artist tearfully shared that she has noticed that she has lost a large number of followers on Facebook and is worried.

“I want to correct whatever that is going on, I was not in Karen, why are you unfollowing me? I’ve noticed people are unfollowing me on Facebook for nothing. If I was in Karen I’d have said that because you know I don’t hold any secrets, but I wasn’t there,” Syokau said while sobbing.

“I didn’t even know that artists were invited to Karen, so please those unfollowing me and I haven’t messed up, kindly stop that. The only thing I’ve done is uploading a song on YouTube titled ‘Ni Mungu’,” Syokau added.

Her cry comes a few days after former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua called on artists who went to Karen to Kindiki to apologize to the people who are their fans, otherwise, their artistic activities will be boycotted.

The artists who visited Kindiki include Samidoh, Jose Gatutura, Ben Githae, Karangu Muraya, DJ Fatxo, Sammy Irungu, Martin Wajanet, and Ngaruiya Junior among others.

Gachagua labeled them community traitors for accepting an invite of Kindiki, who he termed as the one in the government who’s making the people suffer.

He asked them to apologize or else their gigs in entertainment venues would be in jeopardy, adding that he would mobilize people to unfollow them on social media – a directive he claimed was conveyed to him by the Mt Kenya elders.

"The elders agreed that we should stop listening to their songs. And the entertainment joints that used to invite them should stop, and if they do, customers should leave that joint. People should also unfollow their social media platforms," Gachagua said on Sunday.

He claimed that the artists who visited Kindiki were given a Sh50k handout each.

"They went and were given Ksh50,000. The people they go to entertain are tired of the administration, yet they go and sit down with people who are still frustrating us, and so we should unfollow artists who don't apologize to the community," Gachagua said.
