For those who know Eric Omondi, the comedian turned activist, he is someone who has a unique knack for using his wit to analyze trending topics and making comedy skits out of them.

This time, Omondi saw an opportunity in the ongoing online spat between Kenyans and Tanzanians over their president's remarks about Kenyan activists.

Omondi sought out an outfit that gave him the look of President Suluhu's signature dress code, wearing a long green dress, sunglasses, and a red hijab.

In the more than 3-minute comedy clip, Omondi played the role of President Suluhu visiting various locations in what appeared to be a presidential tour to inspect projects, followed by villagers and engaging them in Tanzania’s native Swahili accent.

He then began addressing the public about the projects before being distracted by a male student who, in a typical president’s way of engaging with random kids, joked that he looked like artist Diamond Platnumz.

He began launching all the projects with names associated with the artist and jokingly claimed that the Diamond is a national treasure for Tanzania and should be protected by all means.

"Let's have a Diamond primary school for Diamond's children, let's also have Wasafi diapers for Diamond's children, Wasafi Maternity and Diamond Baby Shop so that we can take care of Diamond as a place, and for Diamond himself, let's give him Wasafi mattresses," he said while whispering to Mammito - who was reprising his role as President Suluhu's female aide de camp.

However, the humorous clip sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans and Tanzanians, with some feeling that he has damaged his relationship with Tanzania and will be denied entry when he wants to travel to the country.

@mfuasi2014: “Eric Omondi, We as Tanzanians are very happy with your art, five more years to you brother.”

@Hakeel: “Dude just canceled his Next appearances in Bongo Land.”

@silwanjala: “Eric Omondi, you are a marked man. Usiende TZ. Suluhu Samia will kidnap and torture you for doing this.”

@stevenadogo: “Hii amecheza blunder his biggest fan base Iko Tz and trolling their president has consequences.”

Comedian Eric Omondi has a history of engaging in "trolling" and making provocative statements, particularly directed at Tanzanian artists and the Tanzanian entertainment industry.

He has previously targeted Tanzanian artists like Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu with parody photos and videos, often highlighting their intimate relationship while they publicly maintained they were just workmates.

These comedic efforts were meant to stir reactions and have often gone viral, drawing significant attention from fans and the wider East African entertainment scene.

There have also been instances where Omondi has issued warnings or made comments related to Tanzanian artists, such as in the context of the Trace Music Awards where he "warned Tanzanians over Bien" and suggested Kenya had "embarrassed them."

For weeks now, there has been an ongoing rivalry between Kenya and Tanzania, extending from the entertainment industry and now to political commentary, fueled by the way Kenyan activists were treated, some were denied entry to Tanzania while trying to attend Tundu Lissu’s treason trial in court.
