Media personality Kamene Goro has hit back at critics who have flooded her DMs with unsolicited advice after she disclosed her decision not to have children.

Speaking through her Instagram stories, Kamene expressed her shock at the overwhelming number of messages she received, both from men and women, after her recent Q&A session where she addressed her stance on family planning.

Kamene revealed that some people went as far as predicting that she would get pregnant accidentally, a sentiment she found intrusive and offensive.

“I got a DM today in response to one of the questions from yesterday’s Q&A – it was about whether I am on family planning. And I was like, yeah, hell yeah. And this babe was like, ‘No, you need to have a baby.’ Then she went further and said, ‘I even wish you get pregnant unknowingly.’ And I was like, what? That is so wild. It's almost like a threat,” she said.

Kamene, who is married to DJ Bonez, did not hold back in expressing her frustration with those who felt entitled to comment on her personal life choices.

“Just because you think you know someone or believe you’re part of their life does not mean you can dictate how they’re going to live it. Behave yourselves,” she retorted.

Kamene stressed the importance of respecting people’s personal decisions, particularly when it comes to major life choices like having children. She argued that in today’s world, it is unproductive and outdated to pressure women into motherhood.

“Let me tell you something, people – can we just be in the habit of respecting people's decisions on how they choose to live their lives? Okay? It’s 2025, and we cannot have a society that reasons like this,” Kamene asserted.

Reiterating Her Stance

This is not the first time Kamene has publicly addressed her stance on motherhood. In previous interviews and radio segments, she has been vocal about her decision not to have children, citing financial considerations and personal preferences.

In a 2022 episode of her morning show on Kiss 100 FM, Kamene addressed the pressure she faced as she approached 30, with people insisting that it was time for her to have a child.

“A lot of people this year have been telling me that I’m turning 30 and that it’s time to start thinking about having a child. I tell them, ‘Listen, I want my kids to go to a school better than the one I went to, which is going to be very expensive – money that I don’t have right now,’” she said at the time.

She added that having children is not a decision to be taken lightly and urged women to be intentional about their life choices.

“Be deliberate with your life. There needs to be a strict plan that you stick to. You can’t be living your life as a haphazard being or a victim of circumstance,” Kamene advised.

Kamene expressed disappointment at the unsolicited comments she received in her DMs, noting that some people’s opinions reflected outdated societal expectations.

“I can’t even say what I'm more disappointed with – whether it’s the women with their pedestrian questions or the men with their granular thinking. I’m just like, what? If this is how people are reasoning in 2025, then we have a serious problem,” she concluded.
