Actress Makena Kahuha, known for her role in MTV Shuga Mashariki, has addressed speculation surrounding her relationship with co-star Bryan Kabugi, popularly known as Real Bugi.
In a candid interview with Mpasho’s Dennis Milimo, Kahuha clarified that her connection with Kabugi is strictly professional, dismissing claims that they are romantically involved.
“I’ve seen him, but that doesn’t mean we’ve come from the same place. We’ve just met here,” she said. “My relationship with him (Kabugi) is good. Cordial. We are colleagues, and above everything, we are friends.”
When pressed about the possibility of rekindling a romantic relationship with Kabugi, Kahuha remained ambiguous, urging fans to focus on her work rather than rumors.
“I also don’t know, but don’t follow what you hear and see on the internet. That question could be better answered by the people you heard saying we are back together,” she said. “From me, I’m urging people to attend my show on the 7th of May, and you’ll know more because I think people online aren’t understanding me. Come to the show and get to understand me.”
Miss Understood: A Story of Truth and Tradition
Kahuha’s highly anticipated play, Miss Understood, is set to premiere on May 7th at the Kenya National Theatre.
The one-woman show is a deeply personal narrative that explores her own life, particularly her relationships with her parents and a former love interest.
“My one-woman play, Miss Understood, is going down at the KNT on May 7th at 7 pm. It’s essentially a story of a young person caught between truth and tradition. It’s my life story in every way,” Kahuha said.
The actress describes the play as an emotional portrayal of her experiences, blending personal struggles with societal expectations.
“It’s me and how I relate to my mom, my dad, and my previous love interest,” she added, inviting audiences to expect a raw, heartfelt performance that she hopes will clear up some misconceptions about her life.
With Miss Understood, Kahuha is not only showcasing her acting skills but also using her platform to share her personal journey, giving her fans a deeper understanding of who she is beyond the screen.
