Tanzanian artist and founder of African Princess Music Label, Nandy, has officially announced the departure of Yammi, the label's first and only signed artist since its launch two years ago.
In a statement shared on her Instagram page, Nandy confirmed that the contractual agreement between African Princess and Yammi—whose real name is Yasirun Yasin Shaban—has come to an end.
She stated that there will no longer be any commercial ties between the two parties moving forward.
“African Princess Records would like to officially inform all music stakeholders, media personnel, and fans that our beloved artist, Yammi, has officially concluded her management contract with our label,” the statement read in part.
According to Nandy's management, the termination of the contract was the result of what they described as an “amicable and mutually beneficial agreement.”
The label expressed pride in Yammi’s growth during her time with them, highlighting the role they played in advancing her music career and helping her gain recognition in the industry.
“During her time with African Princess Records, Yammi showcased remarkable talent that attracted fans both locally and internationally. She achieved success through hit songs, live performances, and the steady rise of her popularity in the modern music scene,” the statement added.

Nandy launched African Princess in early 2023 with the vision of uplifting and mentoring female artists, acknowledging the unique challenges they face in a male-dominated industry.
At the time, she stated the label would focus exclusively on signing female talent.
“I’m happy to officially present to you The African Princess label—a label that will largely sign up female artists. We believe this platform will greatly nurture the dreams of aspiring female musicians,” Nandy announced during the label's launch.
Despite the original vision, Yammi remained the only artist signed to the label since its inception. In her latest statement, Nandy reiterated her commitment to that mission, expressing optimism about what lies ahead.
“Yammi’s departure gives African Princess Record Label the opportunity to onboard new talent, continue investing in upcoming female artists, and further contribute to the growth of the music industry.”
She concluded by wishing Yammi well, assuring fans that her legacy with the label will not be forgotten.
“We wish Yammi all the best in her new musical journey. She will always remain part of the African Princess family, and her accomplishments will forever be a part of our shared history.”
Nandy remains the only female artist in East Africa to own a record label, joining a select group of artists-turned-entrepreneurs such as Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Rayvanny, Alikiba, Sauti Sol, and King Kaka.
