Murkomen said discussions centered on how to optimise security resources on the ground and recalibrate operations to achieve long-standing peace and security in the affected areas.

“We are, however, intensifying our efforts to stamp out the crimes in some of the areas still facing the challenge," he said.
The CS convened the meeting of the Eastern and Rift Valley Regional security teams together with the county security teams from Isiolo, Meru, Laikipia, Samburu and Marsabit.
Security officers attend a meeting chaired by Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen in Isiolo on April 30, 2025. /MINA The CS was joined by the DIG- Kenya Police Service, Eliud Lagat, Eastern Regional Commissioner Paul Rotich, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr Abdi Hassan, Regional Police Commanders Charles Naibei and Jasper Ombati, Regional Administration Police Commanders Lusweti Barasa and John Amadadi among other senior ministry officials.
Also present were subcounty security teams, Assistant County Commissioners (ACCs), Officers Commanding Stations (OCSs), Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs from subcounties, which are still faced with banditry and cattle rustling concerns.
