CITY car dealer, Khalif Kairo has popped up online moments after securing his freedom from police custody. Kairo has been held in remand since March 26th 2025 after he was unable to raise 2 million Kenyan Shillings bond.

His social media pages, especially X, where he had been tweeting frequently prior to his arrest, had remained mute since March 26 but were revived on April 29 after Kairo posted a photo and made it clear that he was free again.

In his return to social media, the car dealer posted a short message thanking all those who stood by him during his difficult moment behind bars and also did not forget to thank God.

He attached the message of gratitude to a photo of himself wearing a white shirt and standing in front of his white Porsche Cayenne.

“Glory to God and thanks to the unwavering support,” Kairo posted.

Kairo was arraigned at Milimani Court on March 26 after being arrested the day before outside the court where he had gone to attend hearings on other charges. He faced allegations of defrauding a client by accepting full payment for a BMW luxury vehicle that was never delivered.

During the hearing of the charges against him, the Magistrate read out the charges to which Kairo denied and ordered him to pay a bond of 2 million Kenyan shillings.

However, Kairo who has had his fair share of tribulations since the start of 2025 was unable to raise the money, meaning he would remain in custody until he posts the bond.

He informed his followers about the new development via his X page and made it clear that he was heading to custody.

“I keep trying to rebuild and settle issues but the police frustration is really taking a toll. I will not be able to raise the 2m bond, so its remand for now. We will rebuild, restructure and God will see us through. Am going offline, nawapenda and keep praying for me,” that was his last post on X.

Three weeks ago, Comedian-cum-YouTuber 2Mbili launched an online fundraiser in bid to offset Kairo’s Sh2m bond and secure his freedom.

"I stand with Khalif Kairo!!Am trying to get how we can help raise his bail. Anyone close to him please reach me out we work this out " 2Mbili said via a social media post.

It was the second time Kairo was setting eyes on the well-wishers to save him, after appealing for a similar fundraiser at the end of January where he raised more than Sh12m through a WeFunder campaign account that he however alleged that it was closed less than 24 hours later.

Following his tribulations, Kairo was not shy to admit that the cases has drained him and his business ventures leading to the closure of his business offices.

''We have tried everything in our ability to try to resolve these issues amicably and ensure we do deliveries but the negative media publicity and constant police involvement are putting us in deeper waters and severely affecting our ability to operate. All our offices are currently closed,'' Kairo shared on X.
