Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday held a bilateral meeting with Brazil’s Minister
of Human Rights and Citizenship Macaé Evaristo.
The talks involved strengthening bilateral
cooperation on matters of human rights, social justice and sustainable development.
In a statement, Mudavadi acknowledged
Kenya’s recognition of the leadership of the South American nation in
discussions around structural challenges on human rights.
He also underscored the importance of tackling racial
inequalities.
“Kenya recognizes Brazil’s leadership in advancing dialogue
on structural human rights challenges and values its experience in tackling
racial inequalities,” Mudavadi stated.
“As chair of the Durban Declaration Working Group, Kenya is
committed to driving the anti-racism agenda forward.”
The Prime CS also emphasized the importance of integrating
human rights into global policies for sustainable development.
He pledged to collaborate on addressing social issues such
as inequality and poverty as well as environmental issues while leveraging Brazil’s
G20 experience.
Brazil is currently a member of the G20, a group that brings together the world's major and systemically important economies.
In February last year, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made a visit to the East
African nation.
Both countries committed to strengthening diplomatic ties for the benefit of their citizens.
